****Photoplay will be moving. UPDATE - August 20, 2006
According to Michael, Photoplay may be changing location very soon. Apparently, the landlord wants to use the space for his own business -- what that business will be is unknown at this time. Michael is looking at possibly the McGolrick Park area near Nassau and Meeker. Regardless, he wants to stay in Greenpoint and didn't seem super concerned about the move (not in a "we're losing money," "can't afford the rent" kind of way). It seems it's more something to do with his landlord wanting the space back (can they do that? Is it called eviction?). More details to follow. In the meantime, the closing of Moon Shadow, compacted with this news, and the closing of the boutique on India Street (near Manhattan Ave) to make way for Barbershop -- is not good news.

Summary
Photoplay is a really wonderful DVD/VHS rental store run by Michael in the heart of Greenpoint on Manhattan Avenue. Their staff is entirely smart, cute boys. You can chat to them about what's playing in the store, the new Fall DVD on Cherry Red, or whatever! Photoplay specializes in Independent, Classic, Cult, and Foreign Cinema categories. Notice I didn't say "movies."
