Amarin is pretty damn good. Not quite as good as The Thai Cafe but a close second place. No alcohol is available, but just run across the street to your choice of three corner bodegas and Amarin will provide you with a bottle opener. Entrees generally under $8. A menu that is not so extensive as to leave one confused. Local art on the walls (usually not so interesting).
Note that at Amarin if you order your dish 'spicy' or 'hot' they are not joking, and this differs day-to-day there. I'm not a spice junkey, but I'm not a wuss either and 'medium' is as far as I go and depending on who's in back medium can be a little too much.
+'s:
- Green Papaya Salad
- Spicy Beef/Chicken/Etc (a wide noodle dish)
- Curry Masaman Chicken
- Crab Cakes
- Pad See Ew
-- different opinion below ---
I think Amarin kicks Thai Cafe's ass. The curry salmon is outrageously good. So is the grilled chicken and mashed potatoes and the creme brulee.
